Tiller position mounting bracket for PS 21-31

My background is in walleye fishing, backtrolling, front trolling, drifting, jigging, live bait rigs etc: Today I still fish walleye but living in the SW today I also fish many other variety of fish, stripers, crappie, bass and when I vacation in the PNW I fish trout, salmon and kokanee. I still prefer a tiller boat and when I front troll I usually do it with a Minnkota Terrova and I prefer the back seat. Therefore I had to make a mounting bracket that would work for me and the PS 31 so it would be convenient to my back seat and I could still "pan" with it. I used Minnkota trolling motor shafts, collars and bearings and the rest I either had from years past or made from left overs from other projects. I have about $80 in this set up. Just thought I would share for others who may fish the way I do and need a way to make the PS 21 or 31 work for them.

I like that setup much better than the one I came up with! Its much cleaner and neater looking. Do you have links for the Minnkota parts?

It looks like you can raise and lower it in the tube so you can adjust the depth it hangs down in the water?

In the last picture there is what looks like a pin or metal shaft with a wire keeper on it that the unit pivots on to tilt it up/down? Can that be removed to take the transducer off for storage - leaving the base on the boat or?

Is there another pin that locks it in the UP position?

Awesome! I too have an electric steer trolling motor, so if I get a PS31 I'll have to build a mount like yours or Larry3215's. Thanks guys for posting your setups, gives me a lot of great ideas.

I like that your design doesn't stick out over the gunwale when stowed. Is that a downrigger swivel mount you are using as a base?

powermarqin, The base is actually an old Johnny Ray swivel base I had laying around. It seems to work great and when I don't want the PS 31 up there I just pull it up and out of the Johnny Ray. The other part of the base is Extreme Trax mount. The Lund has a slot on the inside of the gunnel which that fits into, it can slide forward or aft and can also be removed with a simple thumb screw. For trailering I just take it all off and stick it in a compartment for safe travel.
I think a downrigger base would work great and actually thought about going that route but had the Johnny Ray mount on hand so used it.
Larry, yes, you can raised or lower the depth just like on a trolling motor. I drilled the 1/4" inch hole and put the pin through it. It will lock it in either the up or down position (solid)
I ordered the parts from the list below. #26/56/63/(2)65/(2)66/(2)67/(2)68. I think that was it other than the parts I had laying around the JR mount...and a piece of 2x2x1/4 aluminum tube the I cut one side out of and then a piece of 1/8' that that sits on just for support. I'll have to take a couple more detail photos if anyone wants.

Thats the one thing about my setup that sucks. I usually have to remove it to dock on that side.

Here are 3 more pictures, you can better see how it all comes off the boat when not being used. Thanks for the positive comments.

Like your set up. Couple of questions.

    1) Forward trolling why wouldn't you the PS-31 on the lower motor housing of the electric trolling motor? 2) Is it because what it does to the terrova steering, not as knife sharp performance?

I like wireless steering like the terrova provides on the bow point, then following the PS-30 images on split screen, with both transducers relatively in line with each other.

    Nice job on the mount.
