Had the big red gambler out today for some family play time.
Always amazing how the old boat draws a crowd.
Old man drove to the ramp just to tell me that it was the finest rig he had ever seen.![]()

I can't see a good pic of you 2200 but with my tomato red 2200 I get more compliments than a brand new Porche I'd bet. I always tell 'em it's my partners ride....he loves it![]()

Matt MC, what prop our you running on your 2200. I have the same setup and I'm having a hard time getting the right prop. Don
Currently running a 29 TXP 3 blade. It's perfect for a lite load topend prop. Needs to be a 28 for heavy loads. I also want to try a 27 razor 4 and maybe a 28 razor 3.
I have a 29 qixob hydro. I have a 30 b&b bravo 1. Neither run good on the Yamaha but worked good on the merc I had. I also have tried a 28 bravo 1 which didn't run good on the Yamaha either. I have also had a 30 pro et. This prop ran awesome on both engines , but holeshot sux and, because of the gearcase design, the stock hpdi gearcase blows out at 85 with props that don't have a barrel.
My boat has been tested with many props and set ups. The 2200 likes 14/15 inches of setback with both engines. Also both performed best at 1.5 below the pad the merc ran right at neutral on trim and the yamaha likes more positive trim. The merc ran best with the 29 qixob but wasn't large enough for top speed but managed 87@ 6300 and turned it 87@6700 a couple of times with higher engine heights.
The Yamaha will run low on water psi from 1in below or higher. I need the hpdi gearcase mod.
All of the 4 blade props that I've tried (except than the pro et) are prop locked on the Yamaha they performed great on the merc/ sportsmaster I had.

Also all the props except the pro et will need worked for the boat.
All 4 blade props I mentioned will need dual set of Pvs holes.
The txp 3 is aggravating because u can't set the Pvs plugs and leave them. The Pvs configuration will need adjusting depending on the load you are carrying that day. The holeshot on the txp isn't great but is ok.
I run 3 large vents normally and may sometimes run 1 open.
With that setup I take off, jack all the way down
With the 4 blade bravo style, all holes open and jack is nearly all the way up.
Hope this helps a little, most all props will need modification and generally perform like crap out of the box, but I'm reading the razors are close.
None are perfect and you need to figure out what you are looking for out of your prop. None do everything perfect but I'm hearing great things out of the razors.

Thanks for the info, I have tried a lot of props, I'm testing everything with 2 guys, live wells full and 3/4 to full on fuel. I want fairly good hole shot, decent speed with good boat control. I have tried the 27 razor 4 but could only turn 5600 @ 75. The guys with the lighter boats had some very good numbers. So far the best prop I have tried has been the 26 fury 80 @ 6000. I should need a 27 when the weather cools down. I'm going to try a 27 razor 3 to see how that compares to the fury. Thanks, Don
My 29 txp Has carried me 260 partner 300 my gear and his gear 30/35 gallons of fuel, pass livewell full (only to balance the weight of partner and 3 optima d31m's on the pass side), 1 d31m and oil tank on my side, best I've seen with that kind of load is 84 @ 5800.
My understanding is the Yamaha is just starting to produce it's power at 5600/5800. Your target should be 6000/6100.
I'm not sure but I'd have thought you would be on the limiter or right at it with the 27 4 razor.
I'm assuming your running 12inches of setback.

his boat seems to be running a pitch or more lower than you would think, when we were all running props he wasn't able to get the speed or rpms that it seems he should

This is similar to what I have been experiencing with my 4 blade props. The 29 hydromotive prop I was running so good with on my merc. Wouldn't run on the Yamaha. I couldn't even get close to the same rpm. I was off 800 to 1000 rpm. I had everything checked out.
I tried a 28 bravo and couldn't turn it either. All the 4 blades were locked up and producing super low slip numbers.
Mark told me that the txp I have should be no more than 50 rpm of the 30 bravo he built for me. But it's not, it's off like 600. Tried a 28 bravo it was off 400.
I talked tot Wayne at Hydrotech and he says it is the gearcase and it needs the mods. Also needs the mods because I can't maintain water pressure at 1in below.
But I never did the mods, just ran the txp. And keep it around 1.5/2 in below the pad.
I may not be able to run a 27 razor4 either dunno.

I haven't ran the 27 razor 3 yet, but when I do I will let know how that turned out. I tried Noland's txp 28 or 29 I can't remember, but when I got around 75 it felt like the back of the boat coming out of water. (Really really loose) If the razor doesn't work I'm going to get a 27 fury or 26 and have it worked. The hole shot with the 26 is very good. Don
Don that was a 27 TXP, and the one you ran at Kerr was a 27 powertech

Anyway that's te reason I been looking for a 27 razor 4 or any pitch to test because I'm not sure how it's going to work
