NX882 Jack Plate

Hello,

New to the forum. I recently purchased a 2005 NX882 took the boat out a few times and was going over the back of the boat resealing the transom area with filler and noticed the jack plate was cracked. I reached out to slide master and turns out the plate that they produced for that boat was specific for the boat and no longer made. It was a 7" with I believe a negative taper (someone at a dealer thinks that is whats on there). The question is has anyone out there put a new manual jack plate on a NX882 and if so would you go with 6" or 8" as well as any suggestions on model? I am likely going to take to a dealer to do and hopefully put a metal plate by transom to sturdy it up. Have been around boats my entire life but this is the first Bass boat that I have owned. Any thoughts, suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on where it's cracked, perhaps you could remove it, take it to a local pro welder to be repaired?

I own a 882. I'd like to know where it cracked. You might could find another one used.
I believe its called a set back plate.

It is cracked right where it bends up on both sides same exact spot on the plate that is bolted to the motor. If I could find one used that would be great to avoid labor fees. Contacted slide master and while they initially were helpful they have gone silent.

Ebay.....maybe you could could leave the part attached too the boat and just replace the part that attaches to the motor. A true jack plate, manual would bolt up i think.
This it's a good time to check The transom if you do remove it all.
I had to have The transom replaced on mine ..... 3k ...... But now it's like New back there.

yeah, I definitely will be getting it checked out simply because I found the crack on that plate while resealing the top of the transom where that black plastic cover was because there was a small leak I noticed when backing the boat in the water.

Not too sure about the jackplate issue, but I had the exact same boat and the washers and nuts for the jackplate were actually pulling through the fiberglass in the back of the boat. Before I caught it I had a 1/8 inch daylight between jackplate and transom. Local dealer took it and put a plate on the inside before the washers and nuts. Not sure why they didn't do that back then at the factory.

I have an nx882 that had the same cracks that you describe. I contacted Slidemaster and purchased the 6" jackplate. I ran it all last season and into this year with no problems with pretty much the same performance out of the boat.
