Overheating Horn Help for 150 Evinrude Intruder '95

I was driving through(actually stuck in) milfoil last night and my warning horn started sounding that my motor was overheating. I stopped the motor and let it cool down for about 5 minutes and started it up again and it seemed to run fine and no more horn for the run into the access about 4 miles down the lake. My only concern is that I did not see any water shooting out of the motor. For the life of me I can't remember if it ever did on this motor 1995 Evinrude Intruder. The motor didn't feel hot at all and seemed to run perfect. The water pressure was right where it should be and ran at normal speeds with normal RPM's. Should I be concerned at all? Thanks for any help.

Easy to check remove your tell tale fitting and fire up the motor on muffs, if you get soaked you're OK.
