I tried to post this in the mercury forum but didn't show up. I noticed my mid section is cracked about 3/4 way around from back to front. I haven't heard or seen this before. I have not hit anything and don't know how I could have got hit. Has anyone seen this before and would warranty cover it?
jason...get a dealer to look at it ,and call your insurance company...if there are no signs of impact on the motor, or boat, then it may be covered under warrranty, but i will say that almost all of the cracked mids i have seen have been from impact...get someone to look at it now...anything is possible..it could have been cracked in shipping...

got the pic...thats nasty...i would guess thats a warranty issue, because if you hit something hard enough to do that, some other things would be tore up too....

Just to give everyone a little info... Mercury is going to cover my mid section under warranty.Per my repairing dealer, Mercury stated they have had some problems with this happening before and it has to do with the "harmonics" in the mids coupled with the solid motor mounts and torque; equate to this problem with cracking.

It is a re-designed Mid Section?
If not, do you think you'll have another failure later?
Either way nice of a manufacturer to stand behind their products.
They didn't say anything about re-design, but Mercury did say they have seen it before. I will be keeping an eye on it.
