Anyone Install Rod Buckles in the Gunnel?

Anyone install the concealed rod buckles on their G Boat. I hate to cut any holes, but I dont like the bungee option cuz I'm sure I would trip on one of them

I think I had them in my deck, not the gunnel on the Bullet. Just need to know if it's an easy install for a dummy

Mike, Gambler installed them in my 2100, probably in most 2100's. I think it would be fairly easy if you take your time and measure correctly. http://www.boatersworld.com/pr...k.htm Just lay your rods on the deck to find the correct length and go for it.

Thanks Mike. I kind of hated to drill some of the holes I have drilled in my boat, but I look at it this way. At my age this is my last boat and I want to enjoy it my way. I put holes in the dash to move my Lowrance, at least now I can see it. I installed a Lok-R-Bar, the boat may be a tad more secure and I installed some new gauges for the batteries. You only live once and I'm doing it . . . . . . my way.

Try placing a strap all the way around the your rod lockers. Buy flat nylon strap with a quick release buckle. These straps can be found in most places that sell camping stuff. Just put the strap over the rods and buckle up...good to go. I buckle them at the reel and at the rod tip. Don't want to loose my weapons.

Mine aren't in the gunnels mine are in the floor.. I will try and explain the best I can.. The retractable part is in the same compartment as my rods are but up in front of the front rod tube holder.. There is a small 1/4"w by 1 1/2"L slit in the top deck over colse to the carpet trim covering.. That hole has a cover over it that the strap comes up through then you have the strap hook plate mounted in the floor for the strap to hook to.. The rod buckle retractor is held in place from the tension of the strap both when retracted and when the rods are starpped down..
I can get some pics if you like..
I know how they work because I have had to change both of mine out already..

Almost, the only difference is the piece on the top deck that the strap comes up through isn't quite as wide as yours mine is only about a 5/8" wide and tapers off to about 3/8"on both ends..
Thanks for the pics that saved my from having to take them..

I don't think I can use the deck mount on the 2200. I would be hitting the rod tubes below. I don't want to cut holes in the gunnel so I am going to use the tie downs from Billet Boaqt Products.

Yes, But had the cam far up underneath. My front deck is 11 ft long.

I was just looking at the finish underneath of it not the length topside.

I know what you were getting at. I don't put anything up that far. I would need a stick or this to get it out..

Decided to put the rod buckles in and cut the first hole in the deck and installed it. It turned out perfect, although cutting that hole in the deck was a little nerve wracking. Going to pick up another one for the other side.
