    1998 Intimidator

I recently bought my first boat, 98 Intimidator with a 150 EFI merc. Im running a power tech 23 pitch prop that is probably the original. Last weekend i took it out and could only turn 55.9mph at around 5000rpm. i know the motor is rated at 5600, just couldnt get it up there. we were WAY overloaded, probably close to 600 pounds extra. just curious as to what speeds and rpm people are able to turn with this type setup.

are low 70's possible out of that motor?

Chad, are you sure that is all it's rated for? 5600 sounds a little low but I'm not positive. I have a 225 efi that has a tag on it that rates it at 6500 but I keep it around 6000 to be safe. You should get in the seventies but not loaded like that.

yep, 5600 is all shes supposed to get. its stamped on a plate on the motor. where im from the density altitude plays a pretty big factor in speed (atleast with cars) but ive never thought rpm would differ.

You will, At your age I'll give you 6 months and you'll be looking for 75 mph then 80 and it won't stop.
