I first ordered a 29 Quad IV X O/B Super Special which means it has added cup to the trailing edge and tip cup added it was to much prop for my setup so I sent it back and swapped for a 28 Quad IV X O/B Super Special Outboard Cut what they call there SST version.. It still wasn't quite right it had some porpoising and I felt it had to much tip cup as well which both combined took some speed and rpms away..
I called Mark and told him what it was doing and that the 28 Trophy and the 27 TRO4 and a 28 Bravo1 that he worked has been the only three props that I have run out of 15 different props that did not have some sort of porpoising issue on my 2006 2100 Gambler.. He said I know what do to do the prop to stop the porpoising and he agreed that it should have some tip cup taken out as well..
I wrote all the info down and sent it to Mark I got it back yesterday and I went and ran it today.. Talk about a different prop there was no porpoise whatsoever and the mid-range was even stronger than before and it was 1 mph faster than my fastest prop which is the 28 Trophy that Mark had worked for me..
The water temp was 85 degrees
Air temp 86
Humidity 50%
Light wind
I turned it 5700 at 81.1 gps
I turned my 28 Trophy 5680 at 80 gps
At 850 feet above sea level
That is with a stock 225 Pro xs
My speeds are down right now around 2.3mph because of the hot weather the reason I say that is I ran the worked 28 Trophy in cooler temps 82.3 gps..
So if the Hydromotive holds the same in the cooler weather that means it will be running 83.4 gps..
All these speeds have been with a full fishing load with drinks and ice in the cooler and around 1/2 to 3/4 tank of fuel..
I must commend Mark on a fine job he did on reworking the Hydromotive and making a very good prop a killer prop...
