    Question for expert Gambler drivers

    Gambler 2200DC
    98 300pm
    26 trophy
    Sportsmaster 1.75
15 in of setback (9in factory with 6in bobs hyd)
    Skidplate
    byrans foil

I want to get a prop dunno what yet to get. But I am currently using a 26 trophy. At 3 below the pad I can turn 6200 to 83 Gps. Seems to virtually have no prop slip. And the hull will lift higher then I can handle it. If I run the jack any higher I have little to no lift. Trying to decide if I need to try a 27 or a 28 prop. I would like to stay with a 4 blade. The holeshot is good with a light load but is terrible with a full tank, 250lb partner and gear. I am wondering if the computer is holding me at 6200. I'd like to get somemore out of it. I ran a 26 chopper and it auctually had a better holeshot. It moved the water where the trophy just seems to be turning. But the chopper didn't lift the hull as well. Was only able to obtain 81 at 6100 at 3 below. If I raise the engine I get no lift and still can only turn 6200 with a slower mph. If I leave the enging low then I can get high lift and 6200 out of her and run a much higher mph. Am I doing something wrong. Or is it just my inexperience showing through?
I noticed this too. When loading my boat I can't push the boat on the trailer with the trophy. But the chopper throwed it up on the trailer like it was nothing.

Should I stay with a trophy, try a hydromotive, Or go with an et style prop over hub exhaust like the chopper??

is your prop a trophy plus? if it is remove the pvs plugs til your holeshot comes on a little. you will never be able to push the boat on the trailer with any 4 blade. i am different than most on my gambler with a 200 pro max (less tourque than the efis) i prefer a tempest plus worked for the holeshot. gives a better top end good holeshot carries a load well and since i fish by myself alot it is nice to be able to push it on the trailer.

Ive never had any problems "pushing" my boat on the trailer with any 4 blader ive used.Trophy, chopper, bravo, hydromotive,And on the prop-rpm-holeshot issues. If a boat ever begged for a worked prop it's a Gambler.

    trimmer,
on any boat i have had before including my other gambler i didnt have a problem with the 4 blade either. this is the first PM i have had and i can only speculate that it is the lack of low end torque on the motor but no 4 blade will push my boat and a 3 blade will make it crawl in the back of the truck.

the right hydromotive will get the job done for you....a 27, or maybe a 28 would be about right....blueprinted, and pvs drilled...as far as 4 blades go the hydro is the best out there right now...untill i see one of the pro et props......

Matt.........the 26 trophy is likely closer to a 27P. Also, when you use the slip calculator you should add about 1/2 inch pitch if your prop has a little cup, add 1 inch if the prop has a lot of cup. You likely need more ventilation with the trophy to load on trailer. I would deep six the chopper if it were me because of the heavy 2200 hull that needs bow lift to run because of the boat length. When you lower the motor now you are lifting the entire boat and that is ok when you are just crusing, but you have to lift the bow to get the 2200 to run best and you have to lift the motor to get the needed rpms.
I suggest you get a Hydromotive QIV-X (large barrel) and have Mark Croxton blueprint, change rake a little and drill 1 inch exhaust holes (no need for pvs), this will solve your load carrying, holeshot problems, loading on trailer and will likely be your best all around 4-blade prop. I would go with a 27P and if its not enough you can have Mark bump it up to a 28P. Now your best 3 blade will be a 26P TXP.
I like the large barrel thru the hub exhaust props.

thanks for the advise. I may have to try the hydro. Only problem is I bought a 27 tro plus this morning. I spoke with a fella today and he said that 2200's were performing well with a lab bravo with the 1in holes. Wonder If I could just drill out the pvs holes myself? on the trophy's Dunno what size to go with though.

Matt you would have to have special equipment to drill the PVS type holes, they are the same type holes that are in your trophy plus. You don't want any part of drilling 1 inch holes in a Bravo I unless you have a machine shop. You can go to the Props board and posted at the top there is "Mark's Order Page & Price List" that gives you prices for PVS and 1 inch holes and dual PVS (these are very good prices). I've ran the Bravo's and they perform well on the 2200, however I still rate them 2nd to the Hydro. Large diameter 4-blade props like the Hydromotive and Bravo will carry heavy loads (like the 2200) better than smaller diameter props. They are great for fishing and very good all around type props for the 2200.
I have a 29P hydromotive you could try just to see how it performs, it should turn about like a 28P. You can call me to discuss props if you like MBL 904-708-0267

Re: Question for expert Gambler drivers (Matt Mc)

Depending on what prop i'm running, I say around 1-1/2" to 2" below pad.

TXP likes to run high, hydromotive not quite as high.
