    New Cobra Boats owners?

Was goofing around on the internet, and for chits and grins went to the old cobra boats website (www.anacondaboats.com). It had a little thing on there that said that Cobra has new owners, for real this time. Wonderd if anyone had heard anything, if this is true, or is this another persons dream that will just get my hopes up? Was curious if anyone has heard anything. Thanks

Re: New Cobra Boats owners? (drakesdad)

First off, anacondaboats.com is not the website for the old Viper Cobra boats. The Anaconda Cobra boat is different than the original Viper Cobra or the Venom. The new Anaconda's WERE being built using the original Cobra molds with some modifications by Ken but they are definitely not "The" old Cobra boat. Secondly, the supposed new owners are from around the Crivitz, WI area and were supposed to have a new Cobra manufactured and ready for sale in May. However, May has come and gone and no Cobra. I guess they failed to mention what year! I wouldn't hold my breath waiting! One of the 201 molds was purchased from Ken by Shoalwater Boats of Port O'Connor, Texas and they used the hull of that 201 to make this: http://www.shoalwaterboats.com...htm

Ok, I didn't know if that Ken had sold out to someone else or what. The Shoal Water looks pretty sweet for a flats boat. I don't have much use for it here in iowa though. Thanks for the information.

I believe Ken may also have purchased the rights to the "Cobra" name when he purchased some molds and misc. equipment when the plant shut down. Initially Ken purchased the molds to use as a sideline hobby; he was employed at a yacht building company in Sturgeon Bay, WI and had access to boat building materials. Since Anaconda Boats had no identity and Ken didn't have any dealer floor planning nor ever displayed any boats at boat shows, my guess is that they touted Anaconda boats as the "new" Cobra so they could use the current Cobra ownership to garner some business. I'm not sure how many boats Ken actually produced other than the one he built for himself and one he built for an Anaconda website moderator; and those two boats took a few years to complete.
