After being off for 6 days I finally put the boat in the water on my 5'th day off, after waiting for high winds to calm, thunderstorms to pass, and the repair of a hydraulic steering leak.It was a nice spring day, the boat ran good, the fish were biting (lmb, wb, crappie), and we made it home safe and sound.
Then today, after more rain and wind, I decided to check my lower unit oil. I had replaced it and both seal washers several months ago. As soon as I loosen the bottom screw a table spoon of water poured out and milky oil ran down the skeg.
The impellar and seal kit were replaced 9 months ago. That's when I remembered Murphy 's Law: (1)Anything that can go wrong will go wrong, (2)If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong, (3)If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway,(4)If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something etc. And tomorrow I go back to work.
