I have a 96' 201 w/ a Mariner 3.0 225. I purchased the boat in April and has been an awesome rig. I had Boysen reeds put in and everything tuned up. Boat ran fantastic! As of a few weeks ago,...great hole shot, top speed at 71 w/ two people, a full tank of gas (approx. 40gal) and gear. A few weeks ago, I changed out the fuel/Bulb line because it had a few cracks in it...that's it! I fished a tournament a few weeks ago and noticed this. Two people, my partner at 250lbs, full of gas and an extra battery for night fishing. Bad hole shot, but a loss of 10-12 mph on the top end! Had it out again yesterday with a friend, much less wieght, half tank and no livewell water....almost normal hole shot but still could not geat the beast past 59-61. I had the hot foot floored running at 59 at 5100-5300 rpms!...what's the deal? Did I do anything wrong?....I made sure the fuel line is running the direction of the arrow, but other than that I didn't touch anything else. The only thing else I noticed is that at about 1200rpm, the motor seems to slightly miss...a pop, pop...but other than that, she seems to sound great...before I take her in, does anyone have any ideas what could have caused me to loose all that speed.
