I was thinking the same thing!!Things sure seem slow on this board!!
Was wondering also if anyone knew when they might start building the CORALS again? Hopefully soon!!
Word was the ski-boats AZTEC were back being built again. Oh well, have a good weekend all!!
I wonder how these gas prices have effected boat sales in general.
I don't know what's going on fellas. It sure is slow and quiet around here lately.
As far as the Aztec line goes....we are only spraying the gel coat, hand laying the fiberglass and putting in the floors. Then we are sending them 2 miles down the road to Aztec Marine to be finished out.
As far as the bass boats go....a year or so ago when the word got out that Venom was going to open all we heard was "I can't wait I can't wait" "I'm gonna trade my old Cobra in for a new Cobra" "I'm so happy they are reopening".
We are back in business now.....so where is everyone who wanted to trade their old Cobra's in for a new Cobra??
And yes, I would say that the price of gas has affected the sales somewhat. When the price of gas goes up so does the price of gel coat, resin, acetone and other chemicals necessary to build a boat which ultimately is passed on to the end user.
So fellas, I don't know what is going on here. We are still waiting on everyone who couldn't wait for us to get back into business again. We are ready to build.....who is ready to buy??
I'd expect chatter to start back up once it starts getting colder. We are too busy fishing to post.
Since it's in the 90's here in Iowa, I went night fishing on Friday night into Saturday morning. Had an awesome time. Probably caught 30 bass, all in the 2.5 - 3.0 range. Nothing better than a jig on braided line for night time bassin..
Gas costs are bitting us (me) pretty good. While I don't have to run as much as you fella's in the south, still costs a lot to haul my boat to the no wake lakes.
I'd love to buy a new boat, but this one isn't giving me any reasons to do it yet. Once I get somebody hot to buy mine, I'll be sure to give ya a call. I'm really hoping the 195 becomes a reality. I love my 190, but a 201 is too big. The 195 with a 225 would be perfect for me. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN.![]()
Well, I will be buying in the next few weeks, down to two brands though. Maybe you can answer a couple of questions I still have outstanding. How long is the trailer both with and without the retractable tongue in play and also how wide is the width on trailer? Cobra 201 Pro tournament edition.
Steven.

My problem is selling my '98......have to sell what I have to put down on a new one and the used boat market for '98's is not good. Plus the fact when I ordered the boat I had Dennis Hammond power it with a new '96 225efi they had left over to save some money. Big mistake on my part as it hurts my resale. When I can find a buyer is when I will be getting a new one. Since there are no dealers I did not expect the factory to be willing to trade for someones used boat as Kathy is seem to saying they will do....plus I would get killed on a trade. I asked about a trade in for my '94 195tf Charger when I bought my Cobra and they only would give me 9K for it........ended up selling it for 13.5K. I will not let myself lose that kind of money on trading.
BTW,,, I still get just as many compliments on my 201d as I did when it was new.

I've been fishing three tournaments a week, tuesday night we have a little
tournament for 3 hours, thursday night, i am fishing a NBAA league,
and after 8 weeks, we are in 2nd place with a 20 point lead on 3rd place,
and scrambling to make up the five points to catch #1. looks like
we will be going to kentucky next spring to fish that classic.
In the BASS club i am a member of, after 4 of our 6 tournaments, i am leading
the pack. but it's real tight. 1st thru 6th are something like 146,145,144,144,143,143 so i don't have any room to breath there.
been a good summer so far. i should post some pics.
i did get some new stress cracks last week. on houghton lake, after the 2nd day
i found two nice smiley face cracks under the bolts that go through the COBRA plate, transom, and into the jack plate. they are quite impressive. i should get a pick. anything i should be worried about?![]()
Guys
I read Clevelands post, things are slow, Bass Boat sales are down about 30% according to Mercury. The only thing I can think of to sort of jog you a little bit is remember this. although gas prices are up, the Mercury Opti is porviding great fuel savings. I can attest to this from running the 250 XS Opti, was amazing in comparison to the EFI engines. About 40% less I think, so maybe the thought should be to sell and purchase the Opti engines versus retaining our boats with the EFI's on them, just a thought.

Ed,
I have noticed you have added a few dealers recently. Do you plan to continue adding more dealers? I would love to see a dealer nearby in SW Ohio when I am ready to buy again in a few years.
DC
We are trying to find more, it is a time taking affair, many of the old dealers went to other companies, our Pro Staff personnel are talking with dealers, maybe more will come around in the 2006 building season.

Ed
Are you looking for a dealer in the Houston area?
Ed,
I just got back for the BM Classic and visited the Mercury booth. I am interested in a re-power of my 201D Cobra and was wondering if it was better to work with a Mercury delaer up here in the NE, even though he does not have Cobra's, or come back to Venom. The dealer I originally got mine from in VA. is no longer selling the line. I have a 2002 boat with a 2001 225EFI, still under warranty (extended)and I am interested in one of those "sweet" new Opti's in the 250HP X/S with the Pro Sport lower unit. What kind of a trade in and dollars would we be talking? Just at least give me a ball park figure. Thanks!
