jack plate prop to pad on chargers

This is a question that probably several other charger owners setting up for the first time might be enterested in.

    Here's the question.........
I have read in other post about other brands of boats liking say 4 or lower below the pad and some like 3 and up..........

What setting do most 18 to 20ft Chargers like with what motor.

Lets hear from some of the owners out their whether you have a new boat or a old boat.

Re: jack plate prop to pad on chargers (Slab Daddy)

I honestly can't tell you on my boat. I have a hydraulic plate and I adjust to what works best for prop and load on that day.

I would say start 3.5" below the pad and go up from there in 1/4" increments.

Re: jack plate prop to pad on chargers (Slab Daddy)

Just a reminder, the 6 series(2000) and newer have a different pad and dead rise from the older 5 series. The older 5 series liked the motor at around 3 1/2 below....the 6 series like them around 21/2 to 2 3/4 below.

Re: jack plate prop to pad on chargers (TOUCH OF CLASS)

    TOC
Tried 3 1/2 and with the 6 inch plate and the Raker........between 3 and 3 1/4 worked the best......3 1/2 could tell a big difference in hole shot but still same lift as 3 to 3 1/4.........lift stayed the same but little sluggish out of the hole.
