WOW!
We didnÂt get to run it too long, it was raining most of the day. ItÂs definitely a whole different feel than the other models. ItÂs huge, thatÂs for sure!!
so what is function of the seat where it looks like part of it flips up?
thanks
TOUCH OF CLASS: They have a fold up so you can sit higher when your docking or loading the boat. Then put it back down to run.
Definantely excited about this boat. I hope the new seats still give the "sit down in the boat" instead of the "sit up over the boat" feel that Charger and Champion has always had in their boats. My impression is that is really why we all judge a smooth ride boat vs a not so smooth ride boat. Its the ergonmecs of the seating that plays into some of the judgement of the ride.
Kinda like sitting down in a car vs sitting up in a pickup/suv.
So its the 979---NOT a 797?
looks like there is something for a second counsel is it removeable .
how long, how wide, dry hull weight .
that is truly a fat mans rig![]()
Recovering burn victim. Please be carefull
Yes second console is removable......and as far as what Joe has said seats are upgradeable,if you prefer the bench style I think he said he could do it......remember Charger is a custom boat maker, they will try to build what you want....![]()
as far it being a fat mans boat you have no idea as to how big that boat is,the pics don't even come close to showing the size.2 guys can stand at the bow side by side and fish.![]()
I think this boat started out as a project to be around 20-3"---but ended up being about a foot longer. Pretty sure the beam is the same as the 596---at 96" carried further forward though which gives an enormous front flippin deck and length on trailer is around 26 ft.
Weight is about the same as the 596 too, I'm told at 1900 lbs
Wonder if Charger is gonna have someone else build their trailers besides EZ loader.
I know alot of people have had some issues with their EZ loader trailers and some have not. If you are not fortunate enough to live close to a lake and spend many hours/miles pulling a boat---you would understand what I am talking about. Also I hope this boat loads on trailer more like a 396.
Other questions I have:
Is the compartment in front of drivers console a cooler? If so what is on floor as a step up? Is the locker on starboard side open all the way to front to accomodate rods? Also are their any rear compartments fro storage? In looking at one of the photos---it appears that the compartment behind the driver seat is small. Perhaps larger livewells to accomodate Amistead/Falcon size bag limits?![]()
As far as the seats go---I would have to sit in them---they look cool---but I like the sit in feel from apst years of owning Chargers and Champions? The seats kinda look like a modified seat from their pontoons. Like the center step up idea. Might be kind of cool to do the 195 thing and put a seat post in there for use as your rear flip down seat that just needs to be put in a seat post when needed.
My last recomendation is this--- from a marketing standpoint---and listen to me all the way through. Boat builders need to recognize that their biggest potential customer are non-boaters or co-anglers. These fisherman ride in many different boats. If the co-anglers are getting their $300+ rod and reel set ups beat up, they will blame either the boater for his driving skills or the boat for how rough it rides.
Basscat (jaguar) and Phoenix went maybe a little overboard with their co angler rod lockers---but it does give them a safe place to keep their rods overnite or when dining on the road. So Charger if I could advise one thing to save the gel coat and make co-anglers happy---CARPET that passenger rod ramp. Not black non-skid pads---put carpet on that ramp.
Looks like they made a great boat. We need a video of this boat, in and out of the water.
Joe will be getting us video and pics, they just got this boat finished for the dealers meeting this weekend so hang on we have alot more comming.......
