I know there are a couple of other 210 owners that have been tweaking with their set up recently so I figured I would just give an update. I saved about 20 minutes this afternoon to do some running. I did reach my personal best of 75.5 mph (gps). Speed was still climbing slowly by the 1/10 th, but just ran out of room. I was fishing a very small lake today. If I had the room to keep going, I would guess that it wouldve squeezed at least 76.5 without touching throttle or trim any more. I had more trim and rpm's left, but my learning curve on the balancing act does not resemble a mountain top. The 75.5 was 5750-5800 rpm's on a 300xs with a 27 tempest plus straight out of the box - supposedly. I am starting to have my doubts. It just seems to lift really well and run higher than what i have heard to expect. I have an 8" hydraulic plate. That run was at 1 1/8" below pad. I know that seems very high for a champ and a tempest plus prop, but at that height I still have 18 psi water pressure and the boat is still very stable through 74 and was somewhat stable at the 75.5. When I lower the motor to 2" or more, it gets squirrelly at or around 71-72. I didn't take the time to compare midrange numbers, but the boat felt like I probably lost performance at the higher height until I reached the 5000 rpm range. Hole shot was also not quite as good at the higher height. Not bad though, just went from great to good. Very likely that a more experienced driver could get more top end with a lower motor and more trim, but I am just not ale to field test that myself just yet. I have no doubt this boat with an experienced driver can squeak past the 80 mark. I will try and get some more numbers at different heights and rpm's in the next week or two.
