    Re: Champion Models (austin bassin)

Our favorite lady will be along soon. Madam Lea: has a wealth of info just for you. I must say that covers a lot of boats, maybe you need to narrow it down with more info ,such as size, year and etc. There are (2) major beams depending on what year. As for a particular boat, most of us have or have had most of them, just ask.

    Re: Champion Models (austinbassin)

Don, the company was started in 1975. The number of models/sizes are too numerous to list. I have brochures from 85 to present, but would need to narrow it down, waaay down. Even listing all of one year's models would be a large task.

Earliest models had 86" beam. Then came 90" beams, then a few between 90 and 95" and then 95" beam forward models...The only ones made today are the 183, the 202 and the 210...and they are all Champion, tho they now wear Stratos decals....

If you are interested in a particular year and size, I will be glad to try to help....

BTW, the model #202 and 190 were used for 2 different boats/years each, which further adds to the complexity...

    Re: Champion Models (Lea)

I guess I am trying to figure out the nomenclature (SP?) 181 = 18' 1"?
202 = 20'2" ? is that correct? is beam width decernable from model number or one must just know that?

    Thanks

    Re: Champion Models (austinbassin)

No...there are a couple of models the length and model number do not correlate. For ex..older 202s are 20'2", but the new one is 19'8". 190 was 19', but newer one is 18'8"....

Beam width is not easy to pick out. Definitely not discernable....You have to know the years they made 86", and 90" and 95", plus several they made the in between widths...

I would never have this sort of info if I did not have the brochures....

    Re: Champion Models (Lea)

Ican;t find much info on a 1998 181 like I just bought,. What is the difference between that and a 184? I read the history pinned to the top and still did not see much in there about a 181. Looks like the 202 is the hull to seek when upgrading?

    thanks

The early 202 was great, as is the new 202! but there are a bunch of great hulls. It all depends on what you need/want!

    "The Champion Elite 181

Designed by anglers, for anglers, the Champion 181 Elite is a basser's dream boat. Compact in size, huge in fishability, the 181 is sure to remain a valuable asset for tournament fishermen from beginners to pros. Whether it's 115 or 150 horses behind it, this 18 foot fishing dynamo will be ahead of the pack. Ample storage keeps everything in its place as you cut through the wake, turn at all speeds and remain in complete control. But speed and stability aren't the only things in abundance. Compared to bass boats of equal size, the 181 provides more storage, more comfort and a larger fishing platform for unrestricted casting. It comes standard with a divided livewell with hydro-air aeration to keep your catch alive all the way to weigh-in.

    3 inches

It may be narrower also, not sure. I know the differenc between a 186 and a 181 is 5 inches - 5 inches longer from tip of the bow to the front of the consoles.
