I need some help/suggestions from the tech experts here. I have a '94 Johnson Fast Strike 150, Mdl. J150GLERA, S/N G03540779 that won't slow idle. It is on a '94 Javelin 379, but the boat is not the problem. It will start fine and run as long as I don't give it gas. Then it lugs down and dies. Once it finally takes the gas it runs great at speed and seems strong. The real time it shows up is in areas of idle speed only. If I don't push the gas and just let it idle it will run. If I try to give it any gas at all it dies about 10-15 times before it accept any gas and run. I just bought the boat used and the compression checked out good. The bottom end of the motor was just rebuilt (prop shaft, gears, impeller, etc.) but nothing to my knowledge to the cylinder head area. I am guessing carbs need rebuilding, but it is just a guess. Any suggestions before I take it to a mechanic? Thanks.
