    Forward planing ?

I am going to remove my Lowrance from the dash and move it to the bow. Anyone tackle a silconed in place unit before? Would like to remove it with-out wrecking it.

I never did it, but it sounds like you can remove the old silicone and replace with new!

I took mine out by using a thin flat tip screwdriver just working around the edges alittle at a time prying very carfully, worked pretty good.

I pried mine out a little bit at a time, with a thin blade screwdriver also, on my 190CX.Worked great, also its real easy to check trolling motor bolts, mine were a little loose.

A friend of mine removed my B&W units from bow and console and replaced them with the color units. He had no problems. I think he used a slim blade to pry them out, and I know he used marine grade silicone (got it at BPS) in sealing the new units.

Let me know if you want to talk with him about it....

Had my 332 out a few times in my old boat. It's not that hard, I take a razor blade and cut around the unit as to break the seal of the silicone just be careful to not cut into the unit. After that I would just keep working it to break loose of the silicone. Be careful if using a screw driver to pry with, you can damage some glass/gelcoat pretty easy.

Removing the units challenge is: very little room to work in on a 183's dash.

Next challenge getting the puck transducer off the hull, Pat the man said give it a few good smacks from the side.

    In Pat I trust!

Same here -- It put a few small scratches on the back of the unit - but it came out fine... I then removed the bezel from the HDS unit & scrwed the new one in & replaced the bezel....
