Couple more ?s on my new 198

My boat came with a factory installed Power Pole and they mounted the switch in the panel. However, they took the switch out that controls the rod box and livewell lights! I am trying to get the light switch from the dealer and will rewire this and move the Power Pole switch, but has anyone else seen this done at the factory?

Also, does anyone have any good suggestions on securing the rods in the rod box holder? I run in a lot of rough water and the rods will never stay in place just laying on those plastic cradles. I was thinking about screwing in some velcro straps to the holder itself, but was curious to see if anyone else has taken a different approach.

I have been in some rough water with my 198 and never had a rod come off the moose head holders. Guess you could use a bungee to secure them down.

Sounds rather silly but I put rubber bands around each rod that was in the moose head to keep them in place when traveling and such. Other than that they are usually on the deck of the boat and the others stay in the mouse head with the rubber bands.

I fish the Potomac a lot. Never had an issue with rods bouncing around on rod rack. Now the trolling motor is a different issue, Ram Mount it!

Yup... as James mentioned above, the Potomac get rough and especially if you have to run hard during a tournament. When I had my 181, the rods would bounce out of the holder and it was the older style that was coated with the sticky soft plastic, so I rigged up some bungees. But those had easy places to mount the bungees to.

Do you have photos of your boat. If I see you on the river, I'll say hello.
