Pics 1997 186DC

Here are some pics of my new to me 1997 186DC Elite w/175EFI. I purchased the boat from the original owner and the boat could pass for new. I have added a HDS7 at the console and a HDS5 at the bow. All I can say is what great boat. Runs mid to upper 60s, handles rough water like a bigger boat, fishes great, and it is a blast to drive. I have had a lot of boats in the last 25 years and this is one of my favorite hulls. The 175EFI is easy on gas too. Who really needs a 40K dollar plus boat to catch fish out of. Mountain Home sure new how to build boat.

Nice going, the boat looks loaded, you even got the stepup cooler.
I sure you know this but I wouldn't tow with the covers on the sonar units, I guess you can figure out how I know, good luck, enjoy

looks awesome. almost as nice as my 96 186 with a 175 opti xs. the opti gets better gas mileage than the efi. they are awesome rides. i can only get to 65.

I've hit 67 mph gps with just me and average tackle and around a half tank of gas.
What kind of speed did you run with the 175EFI?

speedo never worked with the efi but i think the opti xs gets 3 or 4 more. i love the ride of our champions. i had a trophy 24p on there and could do 58 but switched to the fury after i got the xs and did 67 once pinned as my buddy went up the ramp to get the truck. i don't have a jackplate. i have heard it will get me 2 or 3 more but have heard as much as 5 more. still paying for the extras i've got before i jump into that.

Iam still sick, every time I see a 186. That was my first Champ. I wish until this day that I would have kept it for a 2nd boat. You have one of the best so far as Iam concerned. Man was i dumb. The guy washes my face with it every chance he gets, and I would like to respond but what can I say.

Thanks Larry, Those pictures don't come close to doing the boat justice. I've owned 5 Champions, 7 Basscats, 5 or 6 Skeeters and a couple of Rangers. This is one of my favorite hulls. For a 18'6" it will do it all and as I said above it is a blast to drive. I have my electronics like I want them and this winter I think I'll put hydraulic steering on it and maybe replace all the pumps just because they are 13 years old. You hear about boats like this but, they are hard to find. It was a true one owner boat. The gentlemen was 83 years old when he went to meet the Lord and I bought it from his nephew who is about 55 years old.
