    Champion 183CX speed

What kind of speed are you guys getting out of your 183's? I see that most state 57-62 mph. Is this fully loaded, livewells full, and two passengers? I am still working on my setup. With only myself and a full tank of gas I am running about 58 mph. I have a 2007 183 CX with a 150 opti and 23 tempest plus prop.

    Re: Champion 183CX speed (flipster)

I'm only getting about 54-55 at best with a full tourney load and two people. I've hit 60mph once coming down a river with a strong current. I'd like to know how I can get more speed too. I'm running the same prob as well. How many rpm's are you turning at top end?

Bassin Butch has a 06 rig just like yours. I am sure he will be along with some numbers soon enough for you.

As for these numbers. I would think they would be better. My rig ran 64 "New" with two guys and light gear. I run a 25p Renegade. Used to run about 5700 rpm, but I am a little skittish to run the Ficht that high anymore. Only needs to last a couple more years then a repower.

Re: Champion 183CX speed (Steve 187)

My boat is a 2007 engine is: 150 Opti, 23 pitch tempest, 3.25 prop to pad.

58.50 GPS recent max, hit 60 a few times in the past.

The speeds your seeing are about as good as it gets .

    Cx fact checks
Pre-rigged hull weight: 1700 lbs. (Single console)
    150 max rating
Storage area that tempts you to over-stock the boat.

Enjoy the boat and let the speed guys beat the hell out of each other in rough water.

    Re: Champion 183CX speed (flipster)

I've gotta 2007 183cx, single console, with a "HEALTHY" 150 Yamaha VMax carb. Running a 23 Tempest Plus 3 blade, at 3-1/4" below pad. I've got as good as 62gps with very light load, and by myself. I still get 59-60gps with 2 people and gas/tackle.
The 150 Yammie carb runs STRONG on this boat!

Your dead on. I got 61.4 mph gps under ideal conditions for speed before, but full gas you seem to be about right. It will pick up some speed once it cools off a little.

My RPMS are always between 5,400 - 5,500 depending on weather temp.

Before Next year hits: I will have my prop worked over by DAH, also a hole shot plate.
