I have a '89 70hp Envinrude thats giving me problems. The other day the motor idled fine for a few mins. As I was idling out the motor shut off. I tried cranking it and choking it but it wouldn't turn over. I choked it untill I got tired and it seemed to want to turn over but didn't. Lots of smoke left the exhaust but still nothing. I am under the impression that its the fuel filter or pump. I just had a fuel pump put on last year. I had similar problems last year before the new pump. I would be running and the motor would just die. No sputtering or spitting.... It would sometimes die as if it was running out of gas. Had it checked at the shop and the mechanic said that one of my cylinders could be trying to sieze. One cylinder puts out less pressure than the other two (120,118,110). I've ran it this way since I've had the boat. Carbs have new kits and were reset.
