    Replacing carpet question.

I have a 92 201 that is in need of new carpet. The boat has the riveted trim and I want to know if it needs to be taken off before carpet install or is the carpet just tucked up underneath it. Also, if it has to be removed, how do I get those rivets out without them ending up somewhere inside the boat?

Yes you have to remove the trim. Let the rivet fall where they may. They shouldn't hurt anything. Most of them can be vacuumed up.

I did mine last spring in my '92 201. Drilled them all out - piece of cake. Try to keep you old rug in as good of shape as you can to use as a template. Remove the trim before you pull the old carpet or you'll shred the edges.

    Thanks. Great info.
Now I need to read up before I start my first carpet replacement.
    I dont foresee any problems.

When you remove the trim, be extremely careful not to accidentally bend it. That trim is one of the classy features on our older Champions, and you need to be able to put it back on once the new carpet is in place...
