    1983 Champion 176 Super V

Question for all you guys or gals with the 176. My 7 foot rods won't lie on the casting deck on the sides. How do you guys or gals get around that? I am applying my Hillbilly Ingenuity to come up with something but just thought someone might have a solution so I don't re-invent the wheel.

    Thank you

I had the 176 and laid the rods so the tips were alongside the console with butt ends forward. Some folks put a sheet of rubber where the tips rest on the gunwales...to help protect them.

Thanks Lea, I looked at doing that. After some thought, I built a frame and put a Berkley Horizontal Rod Rack on it and will attach it to the boat. It will be removable so at the end of the day, I loosen some wing nuts and carry off all of my rods at the same time. Since this is an old Champ with alot of wear and tear, I don't mind the modifications so much.
