Should I? or Should I Wait?

Looking for some feedback and opinions on purchasing a Champion before we hear of PE's plans.

I currently have my choice narrowed down between a 07 20i w/ 250Yamaha and a 07 200 Elite w/ 225Yamaha. They both have just over 100 hours and at least 1 full year of warranty on their motors. Both seemed priced ok at 30k considering their excellent condition. The problem is that these Champs are hard to come by in my area. There are more than a few Skeeters for sale.

Would you buy a Champ right now? Or would you wait and see?

    Thanks in advance...
    Tim

Tim, I'm sure I'll get grief for this, but I'm going to say it: When every other top line bassboat sold in the US is American owned and manufactured, NO WAY I buy the only brand that is owned by a Japanese company. I'm not even buying a Yamaha outboard. I know that it is a used boat, but every Skeeter sold adds to Skeeter's value and bottom line. I also know that they are made in Kilgore, TX. But at the end of the day, the profit goes to Japan. Do you think they are out buying US made products? We can't get our products past their docks.

    End of rant....sorry...........

I would say buy it. Champion is a proven product. If you buy one you will be getting a top of the line boat that you can be proud of for the rest of your life no matter what happens in the industry

I personally would not hesitate to buy a used champ if I was in the market.

Skeeter makes a good looking boat, just looked at a brand new one two days ago. Their hull still looks flat to me, and takes me back to some bone-jarring rides in a friend's boat on Lake Michigan...

I am of the thinking that if you need major warranty work on a new vehicle or boat, the problems usually become apparent very quickly. I didn't have any warranty on my used champ when I bought it, nor have had any reason to need one.

I'm sure you checked the used champs for sale on this board, if not, there are some very well priced used boats - same year 210 with a 250 for < 30k.

Drive/fish in both of them and decide what fits you best.

Good luck and the ChamP family can always use another satisfied member

last time Champion was in this shape I brought my champ new and got a killer deal.l The dealer wanted it off his lot and sold it to me way below list just to have it gone. When champion was back up and running I got a letter telling me I had a full warranty. Even got a jacket and hat from gen-mar. It worked out well for me and I would do it again in a heart beat. Plus I never had a warranty claim anyway. best of luck.

As far as the Champion goes the warranty on the motor goes through the Motor Manufacturer no worries there and your line about them being hard to come by in your area says something to me not sure if anyone else picked up on that though!

Get the Champion! No worries, since motor is under warranty...Also just heard that PE will be honoring existing Champion warranties..

Bingo!... had to drive a full day for my Champ when other boats were for sale closer to me in my price range... always a good arguement. Obviously everybody would sell their boat for the right price, but it just seems that Champ owners are one of the hardest to pry away from their boats.

Your buying the hull. That 200 hull will out perform and outlast that 20i, regardless of the company behind it. I've owned 2 brand new skeeters, so speak from experience.

Check the hull out. Likely would see problems by now if it were going to have them If it is in great shape I would not hesitate. I 2nd no bug boats for me, I don't like hull slap
