i currently have a 187 with an 8 inch jp and no swing away tongue. my garage is 22'8" and i can fit it in on an angle. looking to upgrade soon, and was wondering if a 198 with the swing away would fit. got lots of room to angle it if needed.

If you angle the trailor and lower the motor down it would fit. You'll be happy with a 198!!
The 198 requires 23'-4" with the tongue swung back. This is with the factory 10" plate.

This is also with motor straight up and down...off toter.
24' garage, with motor down tongue dropped, straight in, you will need to knock out some drywall in the stud cavity of back wall. Trust me, I know. That's if it had a 10" jackplate ,which it probably does. Funny thing is my friends 21x Triton will fit in my garage no problem, it all has to do with transom design and jackplate setback. Buy it, if all else fails, build a "dog box" similar to what they build for a gas fireplace, so motor can set in. Looks like a gas fireplace chimney from outside, and you will be able to fit the boat in without even dropping or swinging the tongue!
My 198, with motor down, but tongue NOT retracted, fits fine in my garage. I have 1 foot in front and more than 3 ft in rear to walk around... Since my garage inside dimentions are roughly 29x29, it is taking 25 ft...or a hair less....Again, this is with tongue not retracted... I would think, with tongue retracted, it would fit fine in 24' space???
