Comparing a STratos 21 MSX to a Fishunter 190---what do you think?

Those of you who know me know I continually get that "wandering eye" syndrome (thank goodness it's with my boat and not my wife, right? ) Also, I did put this on the stratos thread, as well and have gotten one response. (it's on WC too). Anyway, I've spoken with a couple of BBC'ers about what they think, but thought I'd see if anyone else could offer some specific +'s or -'s about making a change from my Fishunter 190 (1998) to a 2005 21 MSX. Obviously the stratos is longer, but it's the same width (I do believe) as my Fishunter 190 (97" beam according to my brochure). Decks look similar with the msx having more deck space. Storeage looks comarable... Ride? I know our champ slogan... anyone able to talk about the ride of the stratos??? Thanks guys and gals!!

Derwood why would you not want another Champ since you posted you had knee surgery? Geneva without a Champ imagine the banging? Derwood buy a newer champ!

I was just wondering if anyone had the same surgery I'll be having in about 10 days. It's call a Patella-Femoral Resurfacing... they lift up your knee caps and screw in a titanium knee cap seat (and then put something on the under side of your knee caps) so that the knee cap doesn't pop and crack as it slides around... Anyone have this done? I'm curious about recovery time, etc. I"m doing both to cut my recover time in half... I've read up and been advised by my specialist, but was hoping for some feedback from my champ family...

Well....here's my view...

You post about a Champ/Stratos comparison in the Champ forum....and about a Stratos/Champ comparison in the Stratos forum....

I have to wonder what you expected to hear.

I just wanted to know if anyone has had much experience with them. A fellow BBC'r told me about them and how well they compared to the Fishunter. He also showed me one from C and O marine that was forsale... seemed like a good opportunity to get something a little bigger, with a newer engine, that was comparable to what I currently have. Really, all I wanted was to know if other have ridden in them and what they thought. I've only got one other person's opinion (which I respect very much). I don't like the new Fishunters at all, so when this FH is gone, I either have to find another, or switch to something different (Ranger 620 or maybe the MSX).

And "NO" it's not cuz of my pain meds!! For some reason they made me nausious when in the past they have never bothered me...

You know all in all I think I would prefer a CC 22 bay champ with a (i'll burn in the fires of hell) 4 stroke hammer so I could put a T top on it and cold Wx enclosures with heat so you could fish comfortable and catch some eating fish. I love the bass but they have to get tossed back, I'm talking flounder and grouper!!

Personaly I would not take a stratos if it was given to me for free. I would sell it or trade it in for a Champion. Take the ride and you will find out why. A stratos will beat you in light chop much less when it gets really bad. I had to fish out of a guys in the club here and suffered all day. Take the ride and decide.

To me no comparison. This is a late reply but I have an 02 21msx and you can't go wrong. I have been considering a 620 Ranger and can't seem to give up the Stratos. I have had the boat in 3 to 5 footers on Erie and didn't seem to get that nervous. I have a 225 merc on the back with a 4 blade and get out 59 out of it. Stratos screwed up when they quit selling that boat and went to there lower class boat.
