    New to the Champion family.

Finally own some glass, my last boat was a 1974 12' sears gamefisher.
Lived 15 minutes away from the #1 Ranger dealer in Ohio and was bombarded with Ranger ads in BASS and always wanted one. I really just wanted anything with a console and some getup. I always thought Ranger was the boat though. Fished as co-angler in BFL's out of Rangers on Erie, Javelins Ohio river and Rangers and Bullets in TN, been in a Skeeter in Tn and Tx. Never been in a Champion or seen them much before landing in Tx again. I did just pick a project up that with the information on the BBC looks very possible and enjoyable.
So here are some pics of my 1987 Champion that will keep me busy for awhile.
Look forward to being part of the group on this journey and seeing you on the water down the road.

Re: New to the Champion family. (tracy shannon)

I believe it is a 201 super v from the paperwork and info on the web I could find.
I knew of this boat for awhile and was hesitant until I checked out the restoration
    section of the BBC.
    Should be a 1987 201 Super V with a 1996 Mariner 200 EFI three blade Stilleto,
but you see I have alot to do before worrying about setup.
I plan on draining tanks, removing tanks and climbing around in the bilge and transom this weekend.

Congrads. As what was said before, there isn't any thing that can't be fixed with the help of the people on this board. From the pictures it looks to be solid and that's what counts. Good Luck

Re: New to the Champion family. (getfished)

Seabrook, welcome. I bought my first glass this year at 49 yrs old. 1983 Champ with a 1986 Mercury 150 Black Max. Mine is a project boat also and these guys were instant help to me. New to the board, I had all the info I needed to fix my main issue with the boat within a couple of hours. If everything goes as planned, I will fish my first tournament out of her October 24th on Kentucky / Barkley Lake.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Re: New to the Champion family. (Lea)

Lea Thanks yes I have no brochure or owner manual with the boat.
So I'm sure I'll have pictures with questions down the road.
Someone posted the how to use tinypic site for pictures and it makes it a breeze to
show other folks what you are talking about. What a great site this BBC is.
    Safe and Happy boating/fishing.

I too fished out of a 12' sears tin boat for quite a number of years. Finally pulled the trigger on a 1993 Champion. Well kept, but the little things have, and will keep me busy. Good luck with yours and welcome to this awesome family of champ owners. As other have said, you'll love your "new" ride. I wish I had more time in mine !!

Re: New to the Champion family. (Lea)

Lea yes it was easy on my computer.
If you try it I hope you find it easy too.
I copied this from another post since I don't know how to attach thread links.

First I would like to thank George "Culln5" Ellinger for this great tip.
    - Go to http://www.tinypic.com
    - Click "Browse" to find your picture file on your computer
    - Use the "Resize" dropdown menu to select your picture size (Message Board 640x480)
    - Click "Upload"

The result will be BBC html ready, just copy "Image Code For Forums & Message Boards" and paste! There is no need to click on the "Insert Image" button.

Pull them hand rails off the top cap and wet sand it with 400 wet/dry sand paper by hand and keep it wet, then 600 W/D, then 1200 W/D then 1500 w/d. Wash it between sanding with clear water no soap. Let it air dry and then buy the Norton liquid Ice system and a decent rotary buffer. You will be surprised how that top cap will come back. It will never be factory original due to age and exposure/elements but it will surely surprise you. Order your carpet from http://www.bassboatcarpet.com it is 20 oz. Deans custom canvas made your seats. I'm replacing my originals with the seats from Bassboatseats.com. Long drawn out project but a labor of love.

Re: New to the Champion family. (SeabrookBasser)

I just saw this post and see that you will need some work. I just bought a boat from C&O Marine in White Bluff,tn and took a tour of their parts storage areas. If you are in need of ANYTHING for your Champ I will guarantee that they will have it!! I was amazed at all the parts etc. new and old that they have for most bassboats.

I have checked them out online and looks like a great place.
What part of TN are they in? Where is White Bluff?

Champinman thanks for all the good info.
What if any sealants do I put on the screws when I remove and re-install handrail and stuff?

White Bluff is just west of Nashville...not far off I 40. C&O is a great and long-time BBC sponsor!
