    Frustrated at the tilt/trim

I got ready on the night before the tournament for this weekend. I was up all night checking my equipment so that I wouldn't have problems the next morning. I get at the ramp, about to put the boat in the water, when the power tilt/trim will not work.

I checked this the night before and everything was working. I get to the lake and BAM, nothing. I checked the batteries and connections and they were all good.

I had to sit there and watch all the boats take off and mine sitting there. I was a little steamed to say the least.

I checked all the cables to make sure none were pinched or cut. I finally drove back home. After I got home, I realized that there was a selonoid box on the inside of my boat. I pulled it off and sure enough, there it was. An in-line fuse had blown. It was a small short 30 amp fuse.

I was rather mad at this point. And just was disgusted. I wanted to cuss and set the boat on fire at that point.

All that to ask this question:

Where in the hades, can I get these little bitty fuses?

If im not mistaken there is a spare somewhere under the cover. I will look Wed. if noone post the location of it. Any BRP dealer will have the spare fuses.

Buy a box of them as there is also one on your wiring harness for the motor.

I couldn't find them there. That isn't saying much. The WalMart where I live doesn't have much of anything. I hate it. The fishing area is the worst I have ever seen.

The part number you need is 967545. If you cannot find any we have plenty in stock and can ship some out to you. The spare fuse is located right next to the main fuse. There is a small red rubber plug that you pull down and the spare fuse is in there.

Thanks for the part number. Is that suppose to be a 10 AMP fuse or a 30 AMP fuse?

The one that was in there was 30 AMP.

    Thanks

Do you have an older motor, late '70's early '80's, where the trim box is in the boat and has one automotive type solenoid in in, or is it an added-on trim unit from later years that has 2 black 1" square relays in it?

The fuse should be a 20 amp AGA-20 (glass fuse) that is available at most car parts, dealers, and hardware stores.

Did not even think of it being a older motor. If the model number would of been posted we would have known.

Re: Frustrated at the tilt/trim (johnrude)

Yes, it is an older motor. Sorry , posting the motor would have probably helped. I wasn't thinking the motor had anything to do with it, but it does.

It is a Johnson 140 HP 1978 model.

    J140TX78C

I looked on the BRP site and it shows the part to be 0511386. So that is a 20 amp fuse and not 30?

I don't have a picture of the box. I am assuming since it is older that is where they housed that box.

Re: Frustrated at the tilt/trim (SEAHORSE)

Looks like it is the older type automotive solenoid on there. Here is a diagram from the BRP site.

    The fuse is in yellow.

My other question is, where does the tilt / trim gauge wire go if I buy one? On the solenoid? ( it is in red ).

    Thanks,
