    '86 Champion 18'4" hull rating

I was wondering if anyone knew what the hull rating of my model of boat was. It's a 1986 18' 4" just upgraded from a 125hp Merc to a 150hp Yamaha. I am having a little dispute with my insurance company. They say it is not rated for a 150hp engine. Rating plate on the boat has worn away over the years of use, and I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what it is or where I could find documentation on it.
Went to to Champion boats in Tennesse, and they said had no records going back that far.
I was also wondering if this sounds right, it runs really well with the new 150 engine at 50mph.

    Hi,

I have a 1990 Champion 184 DCR (18' 4 " 86" Beam) .The horsepower rating on the plate is 175 H.P. I have a 1990 Mariner Magnum II on it and it really runs GREAT!

    Hope this helps!

    Hi rad.

You need to have a long talk with your insurance company. They are soooo wrong!!!!! The smaller boat, the 176, is rated for 150. As already said, yours is 175 rated....

I have many brochures which shows rating of 175 for the 18'4" boats. I do not have a scanner, but if your company wants to read this BBC forum and email me, I will be glad to try to set them straight.
