Finally going to pull the trigger on a new Prop. 26 or 27P?

It's been asked before a long time ago and I just wanted to double check with you guys before pulling the trigger.

I just wrecked my prop the other day and need to buy a new one.

    Boat: 2000 Champion 202
    Motor: Mercury 225EFI

I had a 26P Trophy on the back of it and it was pushing the boat around 69-73mph depending on the load, RPMs around 5500-5600.

I want to go to a 3 blade tempest for more speed. Do you think I should stick with a 26P or step up to the 27P? I see people jumping back and forth with their boats, 26 or 27 depending on performance. If I am constantly in the 71mph range with a 26P Trophy, my boat and motor should be fine with a 27P Tempest correct?

Thanks! I really know so little about props... Always ran the same one that came with the boat.

Generally, a 3 blade is one pitch higher than a 4 blade.

Best thing to do is find someone to loan you both sizes and see which performs best on your rig....
