Where did you get help? I've had major problems with set-up and Smartcraft insturments? Neither dealer nor factory rep will help me.
What year and model is your boat? For set up help, we need that info, plus what motor, what prop, what prop-to-pad height, rpms, etc. Who is your dealer?
Electronics, etc might come under the manufacturer's warranty.
Contact Champion customer service at 615-494-2090 and they will help you with a resolution regarding who to talk with about your Smartcraft Monitor.

09 190CX with 200 Opti, prop 24 pitch Fury 3 1/2" below pad turns 66.7mph at 5500rpm. Friends helped me set up from information found on BBC Champion Owner's forum. Boat delivered with prop set 5 3/4" below pad, turned 64.8mph at 5270rpm with major chinewalk above 58mph. Rick James is dealer.
Smartcraft guage has no speedometer reading and tells me I have low or no oil warning when both tanks are full. On the speedometer the only working readings are the air temperature and time. Customer service gave me information from Merc for setup that had no effect.

I would think Mercury should handle this issue.
I would ask them, ( I would "tell" them) if you can take it to your nearest Merc dealer and have it taken care of.![]()
I have the same boat (188...last years model) and also have the smartcraft gauges and a 24 Fury (boat came with 24 Tempest +...which I still have).
As for the jack plate height, I believe they come from ChampioN just like they received them from their OEM. If you dealer doesn't change it, which without them taking your new boat out for it's maiden voyage, they wouldn't be able to set, they could get close but they're all different (if you want it set up correctly).
You are correct that with that setting on the jackplate from the factory, you'll have incredible lift (almost can't see over bow at WFO), horrible chinewalk and low top end. I went from this setting to about 3 inches below pad with the Tempest before I got my Fury and after many adjustments (you guys told me to get the hydraulic plate...) it's right about 3.5" below, with great lift, excellent hole shot and midrange and bumping 70mph with two in the boat. There is still some walking, but the longer I've been in the boat, I don't notice it, it's become a reaction that I don't even realize I'm doing...
You'll love the boat, once you get these small initial issues out of the way. I've been in a lot of different ones (makes and models and sizes from 16 to 22') and this boat, with it's width, ride and handling put a smile on my face every trip, along with the 5.5mpg I see on my smartcraft speedo at 50mph...
On the smartcraft speedo issue, two questions:
1. Do you have an in dash GPS (likely a Lowrance 520, or something along those lines)? If so, you can run a couple of jumpers from it (there are some loose wires bundled under your console) to the smartcraft gauge, go into your GPS unit and tell it to output NMEA 0183 and then the smartcraft speedo will report MPH from your GPS, on both the digital and analog gauge once you tell the smartcraft to read speedo from GPS and not pitot.
2. On the oil level...well, I've never had that problem, since my SmartCraft doesn't have levels for those, maybe this years have sending units from the the tank, mine I believe only reports from the remote tank located on the engine. I've never had a warning.
You may already know this, but if you turn the key on and let the smartcraft tach and speedo come on then hold down the middle and right button on the speedo, it takes to you the calibrations for each gauge, first one will be QUICK CAL 1, keep holding and you'll get QUICK CAL2, little long and you'll get the full calibration menu. If you can't figure it out, let me know and I can walk you through it. You can also do the same thing on the tachometer.
here's a small bit of my experience with the Fury: http://www.bbcboards.net...03102
Just out of curiosity....do you have the Smartcraft Engine Monitor (which I have) or full set of Smartcraft Gauges?
Looks good, Tyler!!!!!I know you are enjoying that rig!!!

2ndChamp...what kind of SmartCraft gauge are you having problems with?

nice!....................BUT I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT YOUR USER NAME...???...![]()
Thanks for the information. It was more than I have received in the two months I have had my boat.
Do you know if anyone has tried a Trophy II? I fish Lake Erie and the 4-blade had a better bite in the rougher water on my 184 Champ and 520 Ranger. That's what I ordered with my boat and the Fury came on it.
I have the same set guages as Theclap??? and will try to hook them up to my Lorance x-27.
Here's some more information to help you out on hooking it up (I stole it from someone else's post a while back).
As for the prop, I think there are quite a few people that run the Trophy's for your situation and the HighFive also. As you are probably aware, you'll lose some MPH, but fishing Erie, speed probably isn't your main concern...it would be far behind control and safety.
My name... TheClap, well, without getting into too much detail, I started using the name for various reasons (ahem...) when I was in college and multiplayer gaming was just getting started...middle to late 90's, think Quake, Counterstrike, Unreal Tournament. I also use it on all the forums these days, well, because it's usually not already taken...![]()
I'm also surprised Lea remembered my name, I think I put it one post, so she either writes everything down or has an awesome memory (or maybe both)...
