183CX fuel tank vent line question?

Might be a dumb question but here goes:

My 2007 183cx has a valve with a lever on top of the tank that vent line is connected into. Do I close this for storage? If not why does Champ install this?

I am now winterizing the boat and just noticied it!

    WINTERIZING THE BOAT...................IN OCTOBER!!!

DUDE, I WAS OUT YESTERDAY, AND HAD ONE OF THE BEST DAYS FISHING IN MONTHS! AND IT ONLY GETS BETTER!

Kinda like it, when the rest of you give it up early, lets me catch'em all.

I usually winterize my boats right after Christmas, while catching them all the way up till then.

Sorry, but I had to get on ya!

I'll have to check and see what you're talking about on mine tonight.

Yeah your right! I usually put my boat away in NOV.

I must be getting soft: My Champ takes up the whole garage and theres been a couple of days that the wify has had to warm her car up in the AM.

She even said "Boy you sure are putting your boat away early".

But she used her hard earned bonus check to buy the 183 for me in March.

Currently she has a 12 work day, and I thought giving the garage up early is the least I can do.

This is the second new boat she has bought for me.

And no she has no sister in case any of you are wondering

Lea I gave Champ a call and left a message; wouldn't you know it they called back and missed me. The message from Champ (Robbie) stated the valve is for the fuel delivery line not the vent as I had thought. I suppose having a valve would provide some benefit?

OK..here we go....The boats with under-seat (inaccessibe) tanks have an anti-sipion deal. Mine does! Since the 183 tank is accessible, they put in the valve...to be safety compliant...

As to how or why....I dunno But I guarantee they would do it for safety even if I don't understand...

I will be moving south as fast as I can! The good thing my wife is of the same mind-set. Likely NC or SC as soon as I can retire.

The way the economy is going I hope I can retire as 401K plans are in bad shape.

If this doesn't turn around I cant even imagine the impact to many!
