weight of 2006 198 with motor and trailer

I have kept my rig on the street in front of my house for 18 years. I now get a letter from the HOA saying no boats over 1 ton can be in our neighborhood. Trying to find if I can get away with the 1 ton limit. I see that the 198 pre-rigged weighs in at 1950 lbs. does that include the trailer. Can I argue this even if I am over a little. anyone know if the weights on the champion web site include the trailer?
    Thanks in advance.
Neighborhood will go before the boat does !!

That has to be the most ignorant thing I have ever heard of. What are they gonna do come & weigh your boat to check you out & see if your legal or not. Also if they specified boat only then you should be ok. Make them specify everything such as motor, trailer, trailer tires, or complete rig, anything that is not boat specific. Then I would tell them to shove it. JMO

Are you still in the neighborhood you have been in for the 18 years you mention? If so....tell them where to go and what to do when they get there!!!

1950 is hull weight without motor or trailer...Sorry!!

Time to tell them where to go!!

If you have not been welcomed, please let me do so!! Glad you are on BBC and the Champion forum!!

You've been parking an '06 out front for 18 years?

Sounds like to me you need to visit those higher up folks. I would just like to know who in person is trying to enforce that.

Speaking of HOAs...I just heard about an HOA which tried to "change the rules" after the fact. They lost! It's one thing if it is all spelled out before you sign to buy your home, but quite another if they try to change/add rules later on....ESPECIALLY 18 years later!!!! That's insane!

    Legally, you should be safe.....

Unless the streets are privately maintained, there's no way they can make you move it. Public maintained, the law can ask you to move it occasionally. The flip side to that is disgruntled loser HOA creeps may become vandals to your rig out on the street.

Thats not really true at all.....HOA's amend the covenants of the bylaws all the time....when you sign and accept those bylaws you are also agreeing to accepting any amendments that are voted through in the future as well....Legally you have nothing to say about it, as they basically run a "private government"....HOA"s suck & take away your rights!

I am sure you are right, but in the case I am referring to...not...
I understand about covenants voted thru, but he did not mention whether there was a chance to vote...All he says is he got a letter with the new rule...that just isn't right...

I hope it can be worked out ....

That is correct. Most covenants can be modified by the annual, monthly etc meetings. All it takes is a few show up to a meeting with an agenda, and pass whatever amendment. Binding. Most homeowners are apathetic to attending a meeting. Voila, rules change, your magically in noncompliance with the code, and in violation. Sometimes the rules are okay, other times the busy bodies have nothing better to do than make your life miserable.
I live in one, yet they don't enforce the dirt bags to clean their yards, repair their houses. I pay the annual dues though, so that the lifeguards can play grab-ass with each other (some may find that entertaining). I see it as a way to fire someone and reduce my dues. My 2 pennies.
