Advice for an older motor - sorta long

Running a 91 model 150 Fast Strike. The compression is within 5 PSI all cylinders - average 110 PSI. I have her tuned annually: lower unit oil, plugs, and general going over for any tell tales. She starts and runs like a champ. Idles a little uneven when cold, but drops down and purrs like a kitten when she warms. The question is, should I consider having a refresh done on the internals or wait for her to lay down? Pushes a 92 V178FD Bumble Bee at 63.8 GPS turning a 26P Raker at 5500 RPM (gains about 5MPH when my lighter weight son runs her). Nothing to do with the driving, strictly a weight issue Dilema is - any monies in likely lost due to age of the rig. 3 kids in college, so new rig is kinda a wish list item at present.

i am no tech but ,if it aint broke dont fix it . it sounds like its running good , it appears as though you've maintained it and unless you have had reliability problems personally i would run it and not worry.

of course, i drink milk after the expiration date so take it for what its worth.

overdrive is right..."if it ain't broke....." 110 compression is good. Use Carbon Guard, to keep the fuel system cleaned out and carbon build-up from accumulating along with a GOOD brand of oil (not Pennz or Wal-Mart brand) and this engine may run forever with NO problems.

Ditto what Okie says about the oil. Run BRP oil.

DITTO!! Sounds like she's in good enough shape to last a few more years. My 78 85 hp Johnny was still running great with 90 lbs comp. Run the BRP oil. JMHO

Yep, run her til she croaks. My '78 85 hp is still running great. Just keep a cell phone with you for that day when she's called up to the big lake in the sky.

Yep, even though my motor only has 227 hours on it (dad bought it new when he graduated high school and 99% of the places he fished in WV/MD where electric only was the rule.) He has a detailed log of everytime he used it, all the services done to it, and even how much gas he has run through it. He's about half beaurocratic
