problem with a old johnson

I have an old 1965 model RXEL 13B serial # J259515, I got the motor running grate but I can't shut it off unless I choke it to death. I need to know ware to hook up the wire from the key switch to shut down the motor.

If you want, I can dig up my '64 40hp manual and describe the key-switch wiring.
they didnt use a color code system back then, so much info on the web referring to wire colors doesnt apply.

But basically you're grounding the ignition system to kill the motor
