Can someone tell me how much perfomance loss there would be on a2005 225 HO going from a Lightning to a Magnum lower unit. And if I put a nose cone on the Magnum would I gain any of the loss back.

3-4 mph--Real numbers on a 2005 201 Stratos.
The Lightning has a thinner overall profile. Adding a cone will not help on the magnum. It's still going to be thicker.
