COPIED THIS OFF THE BEE BOARD

    ANOTHER HAPPY ETEC CUSTOMER!

Seriously, I have a 2007 ProVee 200XL with an Etech 225 HPO and it is awesome! I've had Mercs all my life and a friend of mine talk me in to an Evinrude this year and I am sure glad he did! Guys/girls, the advertisements about the Etechs are absolutely, you can talk on a cell phone while wide open with only the wind noise bothering you, not the motor noise! At an idle you might tear up the starter trying to restart it with it already running! Also it never even turns over a half turn to start, no break in period, run it wide open from the git go! I use the XD100 oil and it just does not use hardly any oil and never smokes!

That's Great, only one problem though, when the E-Tec is running you can turn the key to start and the starter will not engage, the engineers thought about how quite it was and how many times we would try to start the motor while it was running.

That was part of my post on the Bee board, and the statement about the starter and key wuz what you might say hypothetical I guess! I was Trying to stress how quite the motor really is! They don't come any quieter! I just got rid of 2003 225 Merc EFI and there is just no way I could compare the two! Maybe I ought to start looking up all this techinal stuff before I post

Glad you like it. I've had two and they are indeed great motors.

Re: COPIED THIS OFF THE BEE BOARD (Kbass)

That's good info about the ETEC starters not being able to engage while the motor is running..... Is ther anything that the engineers forgot when they designed this motor It is true that you can use a cell phone while going down the lake ---- with a ETEC 150 HO running less that 50mph down the lake you can actually carry on normal conversation without yelling........ I'm sold on mine and was very hesitant to buy an ETEC after owning the FICHT series but know I made the right choice...tight lines
