Did anyone else ever have trouble seeing over their windhield. Was wondering if i can be lowered without looking ugly or do I have to get it cut.

I have a 2014 XP and didn't like looking through the dark tinted glass on a cloudy day. I just unscrewed the windshield and lowered it about 2 inches, drilled and screwed down. Did some research on cutting down windshield, didn't have a dremel tool and cutting seemed extreme...took four screws out and positioned as low on console as I could and still have a nice windshield to console fit, screwed it down (see pics) and didn't lose the spoiler effect of top edge...done in 5 minutes. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, my under seat storage box was hard to open, seats mounted too close to backrest, removed both driver and passenger seats, added 3/4 inch spacer under each and left 1/8 inch clearance between the cushions. Bolted a handle on the passenger side of storage box, end result, easy to open under seat storage and seats raised 3/4 inch which makes windshield height perfect. I probably have spent more time making mods to my new boat than time on the water. But still having fun![]()

I had the same problem.Instead of lowering and drilling more holes,i cut mine down. Some wide masking tape to keep from scratching the remaining windshield and to let you scribe a line on,then use a jig saw to cut it.After it's cut use some 80 grit sand paper on a block to smooth out the edge and to match the original contour.

I have cut a lot of motorcycle windshields over the years. I take a scribe (you can use a nail) attach t to a piece of picture hanging wire ad wrap a pencil on the other end. follow the contour of the windshield top while you hold the scribe (or nail) level along the height you want to cut and mark the windshield deeply with a scratch. Do this along the outside of the windshield. After you scribe the height you want put a strip of masking tape over the scribe mark on the back side o the windshield. Use a dremel tool an saw blade attachment cutting level across the face of the windshield midway of the tape. After you cut the shield use a file to bevel the shield to your liking. Just take you time and it really is easy to do.
Oh yeah, I tried a Jigsaw but the the dremel tool does not allow it to bounce. make sure to use a fine blade.
What ever works!
I just sit on a boat throw cushion
Logic some times eludes me! Good idea! I know in the winter I like to duck behind it.
Thanks for the info. Very helpful
FYI. I unscrewed the windshield and lowered it a couple inches and it worked and looks good.
Glad to hear, Bryan
