Has anyone heard of a way to get a little more power out of your SHO by adding a jumper wire of some sort. If so, would be curious as to how and what this does. Thanks

I've heard nothing of such mod on a Yamaha SHO. You hear about people sending their ECU's to Simon for a reflash. Unfortunately, tuners' performance increases work better on a supercharged/turbocharged motor than a naturally aspirated engine. A big Verado after Simon's magic is an awesome engine, as he can push a Verado 225 hp to 310 hp. I don't know what he can do to a more powerful Verado.
Only thing that I know of for a VF200 is to install a VF225 or VF250 ECU.
For a VF225 it is to install a VF250 ECU.
If there is a magic wire I would like to know some more about it.
The Offshore is pulling 300 HP out of the more or less same block but has other parts that are beefier. Mid-section, trim and tilt and lower unit come to mind.
Micro switch...when you hit 5500rpm it ejects your passenger and all your equipment. (Good for 3mph)
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
Lol...I wonder if anyone had noticed IF perhaps the difference in 200-250 or even the 300 SHO is haw far the throttle plate opens on these motors. If the throttle plate is limited to opening say 75 percent on a 200 sho I can see how this can be modified with an ecu re flash. Otherwise, I'm skeptical if this can be done. Micro switch idea sounds more plausible. Lol
No unexplained/unlabeled micro switch is shown on any Yamaha wiring diagram that I can find.
I am betting that the HP differences are a function of throttle opening, fuel delivery schedule and ignition timing, all of which are controlled by the ECU.
I am now wondering if the throttle position is shown on YDIS. If so, for any that have SHO models, what are the WOT throttle opening angles that are being seen?
Interesting to also note that the F300 Offshore (all Offshores actually) use the same throttle body that the SHO models use. However, the Offshore throttle body is controlled by the digital control box up at the helm whereas the SHO throttle body is controlled by the accelerator position sensor located on the block.
I seem to recall seeing somewhere that Yamaha offers a VF300 in some country, just not here in the USA.
I don't know about quick and cheap but I've had my 200 SHO ECU reflashed by simon motorsports. I went from turning a 26 fxp 5800 rpms at 74 mph to turning a 30 txp at 5800 rpms and running 86.6 mph. I haven't had time to try other props or really tweak my set up but there is more speed to be had. The hole shot is even better with the 30 than it was with the 26 before the flash.
Must be on a pirou!!!!!!
I have a bullet 21xd.. Those speeds are tournament loaded. Simon motorsports told me that the reflash would make my motor a 300. I believe it has to be pretty close because before this motor I had a 300 hpdi phase II and I running very close to where I was with the hpdi but with much better holeshot and burning a lot less gas.
WPC3 what are you running for a prop and what kind of RPM are you turning?
I posted the rpms and speed for the 30 txp if you read through the thread. This weekend I ran the 30 bravo xs that I ran on my 300 hpdi and it ran pretty well. The holeshot was good with just a little slip right as the boat broke over. Top speed was 86 with me at 240lbs my dad at 225lbs live wells full with 14lbs of bass and plenty of tackle. The handling with the bravo was awesome but I want to eliminate that slip on take off so tomorrow I'm gonna order a 30 razor XL from Mark because I can't plug the big holes on the bravo xs.
Sorry I missed that. Thats pretty good numbers at 7 to 8 percent slip.
