I have a 2003 250 ficht and was going to do the decarb process. I have the can and was wondering what the reccomended process is. The mechanic at the place I purchased the boat said not to use it on my motor, which is contrary to evenything else I've read and the techs on here. I think I'll go ahead with it just wondering if I have the proces right...
1) warm te engine up with the hood off and cover off the throttle bodies, rev to 1200-1400 rpm
2) Spray a short spurt into each throttle body
3) spray a longer spurt into each throttle body bogging the motor down but keeping it running.
4) kill the motor once the can has been sprayed in.
5) let the motor sit for 30 minutes of so and then fire it back up, rev it up somehat 1200-1400 once the initial cloud clears run it under a load for a somewhat sustained period of time to burn off of the junk out of it.
There seems to be a lot of contrary information on this on the net, just curious what the experienced people and techs on teh board think / do???
Thanks, eyewall
