Hey fellas I have a 201 01 cobra with a 225 evinrude on the back and run about 70 gps with my youngest and around 68 with my aba partner, I remember seeing somewhere that some others with the same set up could hit the low 80's just curious if anyone can tell me if for sure their gettin that kind of speed out of a stock rude and a 20' boat. thanx Mike
Not saying it can't be done, but highly unlikely with a stock 225.
We would have to know the year & model of the 225 Rude to even begin to help.
It's a 2001 225 ram ficht. I know a guy with a stratos and the same motor and he runs like a striped a#3 ape, however he's blown it up twice because he seems to think it should turn 6200 rpm and can't figure out why they won't warranty it anymore, also what do you think about running any other fuel besides premium in the evinrudes. With gas prices like they are regular unleaded is looking pretty good.
I would say running any other fuel( i.e methanol, race gas, nitrous injection) and you willbe like your friend with the blown powerhead..........
Your motor should run regular unleaded with no problems.
