Do you guys think a 1/4" thick aluminum plate the size of the Jackplate bolted between the transom and JP adds any extra support or actually does good for anything. The Transom is perfect JP perfect its a 15" rapid jack. Don't really know why it's on my boat and I'm thinking of leaving it off. What purpose could this plate be serving?

Smoke puts it on all the blazers he works on looks cool sometimes their put on the boat when your bolts have riveted out it allows you to torque down better also some jack plates are not perfect on the sides so they dig in sometimes.
