    Tilt/Trim Gauge

I had a tach and tilt/trim gauge problem earlier. I was able to fix the tach, but the trim is still not working. Should the T/T gauge read anything when the key is at the ON position or only when motor is running? If anyone has any diagrams of the back of the gauge that would be helpful or where the sensor is on the motor.

    Thanks

I also checked all of the fuses and they seem fine as well as no loose wires. And this is a 1990, 150 Hp Evinrude on a 19ft Champion.

Yes when you turn on the ignition the gauge will react. With the motor fully tilted up, look under the mounting bracket of the motor on the left side. You will see the sending unit. Turn the key to on and manually move the arm up and down while watching the gauge it should move. If not follow the wire up into the cowl and look for the connector. turn the key off and disconnect the connector at the motor get out a ohm meter and while moving the arm you should see a deflection in the meter. If not then the sender is bad.
