new charger + new battery = issues HELP!!

i had TM issues, before knowing it was the TM I recently went from a 2 bank triton charger, to a 3 bank minn kota 330 d, replaced batteries and charger. now cranking battery wont hold charge, not even for a second. as soon as I trim the motor down, it doesn't have enough power to crank motor over. I didn't unhook anything from the cranking battery, just added the leads from the charger to the battery. battery checks good, and charges TM batteries like a dream.any idea on what might be causing the cranking battery to die In a matter of seconds. even when charging and I hit th trim the charger tells me its loosing voltage, and goes back into charging mode for that battery. any ideas or help is appreciated, thanks

Have you taken a voltage reading on the battery?

If everything worked before you added the charger I'd venture you didn't get the motor leads back on correctly. You may have a current limiter adapter that is over the main motor lead so it looks and feels tight but the main motor lead is not being "squeezed".

or possibly you might have a make/break battery connection if you overtorqued the motors/charger's connection to the cranking battery breaking the clamp connector if you connected there or worse, broke the threaded battery stud to the soft lead.

Did you use stiff Nyla nuts? Did you use a torque wrench? Lots of boaters in line at Walmart complaining of getting new bad batteries that they themselves unknowingl over-tightened stiff nyla-nuts and broke their terminals internally.
