1992 150 Faststrike J150GLEN
I have been fighting a "smokes like heck" condition for awhile.
I have the "black gaskets" that the experts talk about, but have been reluctant to take the intakes off.
Last night I took the intakes off, and the black gaskets were a swollen up wadded mess. Most of the little check valves in the intake were bad, letting air go in both directions. I could see puddles of fuel from the last time a ran it when I pulled the reeds out.
Question: I saw that this motor has two check valves per cylinder, total of 12 (the size of a pencil eraser), are there any more? Do the 90degree brass nipples act as check valves? They are clear when I put air through them.
Should I replace the reeds while I am working on it?
Thanks,
