Remote control box

I have a 1997 xb 2003. Currently changing from OMC to Mercury power.
I'm trying to remove the omc remote control box.
Can't figure out how to remove the shift lever on the outside
so the control box will come out?
Is their a snap ring or hidden set screw?

There is most likely an allen head set screw, you will have to move the lever to reverse or forward to see a hole/slot where the set screw goes in.
