Fuel Filter / Water Separator

I need to mount a fuel filter / water separator in a 97 XB2003. Where is everyone mounting them? On the livewell wall or the port compartment wall? I assume that I will have to run the bolts through which every wall I mount it on.

The Mercury EFI and Optimax engines are the most popular engines on the Allisons so most do not install a remote filter as these engines have a water seperating fuel filter mounted on the engine.
I would suggest mounting it high on one of the side walls in the center compartment.

Should I run a grounding wire back to the starting battery?

Never heard of running a ground wire from a filter to the battery.
