Ok, so i got all my duck in a row to buy a good used Allison XB-21 and when i go on line to get a quote from Progressive, it red flags my quote, saying this boat can only have a 200 hp motor. WTH???

Progressive is not who I would choose.
Did they give you a reason why? That might be the reccomended HP but there is no restriction for a boat over 20' by the CG.
no reason was given. i just did the online quote. it was red flagged and would not allow me to proceed. who would you go with?
I have progressive only due to the fact they were cheaper and I have a motorcycle with them. I have the same combo (XB21 w/250XS) and no issues.

The link I posted is the short version of the story. I cant find the original post or I would link it. The guy made a claim to Progressive to have something covered and they would not cover it. It was clearly something that should have been covered and was also a safety concern for the customer. They denied it. I have read a lot of stories like this from Progressive.
Check with anyone but Progressive.
That's all I'm going to say.
I had the same issue while shopping for a rate. According to Progressive the max hp on xb21 limit is only 200hp. I went with state farm, only $55 a month.
Don't feel bad. A lot of boats are slow.

Nice....now that I like. I've heard of Markel but never looked into it nor do I know anyone who has it.
I went with my local Erie agent that I have my homeowners and vehicle with.
As to the original question by the poster about Progressive I'm with Lee and the others on that one. Don't you have a realtionship established with your local agent that you could get a quote from ? Like maybe your vehicle or home, cuz there are usually discounts for multiple items.

Lakeozark, check your local Shelter agent too. I don't remember exactly but I think mine was 600-700 for the year. I insured it for 75K I think plus that covers accidents on the water etc. If you want the number for my agent over here in butler PM me.

Has anybody checked with Bob yet from Worldwide Marine Ins? His Co has great reviews from a lot of members on his service and the coverage offered. I'm thinking about giving him a call??
STAY the HELL AWAY from PROGRESSIVE!!! They want as much to insure a boat as they do a car for me!! I'm thinking American Family or World Wide Marine would be a better company to deal with.
I'm with State Farm. XB03 with a 280...$341/yr.
